Finally!

Between working at the library and browsing for jobs, I forgot that I had to post my last blog. Here it is! Final #30! I hope not too late :( Today was an interesting and quiet day. I received a care package in the mail which was a sweet treat :) Let's see...I'm going to sign off now.

Done with the first final!

Since I do not care to tell anyone else, internet, I just wanted to let you know that I just finished and emailed my first final final of my undergraduate career. What might be even more exciting is that this is beloved blog post #29 (one more to go!). I couldn't have done it without you. Now that I am temporarily done, I think I will take the time to write thank you notes in the CC for such a time as this. I am almost done and I am so very hopeful of the future. I cannot wait (and yet I can). Here's to a productive weekend, a relational week, and a graceful exit from Bryn Mawr.

Blogging when I should be writing

I should be writing my final paper which is due at 12 noon. I'm almost done and I have only 2 more pages to write, but this is an assignment too, right? It will get done, just like how my blog will get done and I will have 30 posts (this will be beautiful # 28) by 5 o'clock today. I'm not sure what else to say, let's see...I have a few more finals and I will try to outline 2/3 finals this weekend. If I have outlined papers in the past, they have usually been rough outlines. But, outlining in advance has made this final paper that I should be writing now more bearable and easier to start (and finish, come to think of it). Anyways, I have to go and finish this paper. Good luck (not to the internet), but to anyone who has finals and is reading this :)

Boy Meets World

This is not my story. I've been thinking about my childhood and perceptions of college as a child and I think Boy Meets World was the only perspective I had on college as a child. Of course, Cory found the love of his life, Topanga (I LOVE that name :) ), earlier on in life in the sandbox and his family adopted his best friend (with love), Sean, when they both were young, which really says a lot for the relationships in Cory's life. And did I mention Mr. Feeney?!? How could I forget that Mr. Feeney was not only their beloved high school teacher and college professor, but also their mentor and life coach, arguably. There were so many caring and invested relationships on Boy Meets World. Moreover, I remember seeing students sitting around and chatting excitedly in the lounges and at the coffee shops on campus, as I watched the show. I wonder what they talked about? Or, I wondered if I wondered as child what they talked about? I remember my freshman year at BMC I took a Sociology course and during one of the first few classes, a student mentioned how different college, or BMC, was from her perception of college. In that one remark, she mentioned how students at BMC don't sit and chat like she thought college students did, something that I have always remembered, and have never heard referenced again. I'm not sure how to judge my experience in finality, since Bryn Mawr is my only experience, but I have heard, rather adamantly, that students help each other more at other colleges. I wonder what is to come of Bryn Mawr? Why do the majority of Bryn Mawr students socialize or not socialize in the manner that they do?

Blogging to blog

I'm not sure what I should say now that I did not say a little over to two hours ago. I am officially done with classes as an undergraduate at Bryn Mawr College. It has been a great final week of classes and I am grateful for the senior appreciation meeting I was honored at last evening. I am also grateful for the celebration of my thesis as a senior English major. Now, I have to show my own appreciation with the thank you notes I bought a while ago for such a time as this. I am calm and I like how I feel as I begin the next stage of my life, but I wish my mother understood this feeling as calm and holding onto peace, rather than resistance to her input. I think I will give her a call this evening.

Letting bygones be bygones

So, I am ready to let go of things and loose associations that I have been struggling with throughout my time at Bryn Mawr. But, I think there are many life lessons that I've been taking away from this experience and this gray area of wanting to let go and not knowing if it is okay to let go or to even want to let go. The social environment at Bryn Mawr has been very difficult for me and I never quite adjusted, although I have always treated everyone with respect and tried to smile my best smile at everyone, in spite of it all. I feel as if my best has not been good enough in this respect. On the bright side, my experience at Bryn Mawr has taught me, or so I think, what I value and what I need to contribute to-fulfilling, long-term relationships, the sharing of knowledge, cultural exchange, hope, sincerity, openness, and smiling :) Of course, these things are easier said than done and I feel as if I really have a very hard time with these things in my family life, but I hope to grow, walk in the light, and share this light with others, the best I can.

Things I will miss about Bryn Mawr

Waking up to the song of the birds in the trees outside my window in Erdman. The quiet of the rain pitter-pattering outside. The sun shining in my window. The cherry blossoms. The quiet during the morning hours. The peace of my own space. I am really going to miss the peace of having my own space. I'm going to miss the spirit of done is good, although I will carry it with me. I'm going to miss the interesting courses I have taken, well parts of them. I'm going to miss the professors who have helped and shared insight. I'm going to miss three meals a day, already prepared, although I do like to cook and want to try my hand at it a lot more. I'm going to miss the quaintness, beauty, and privacy of English House. I'm going to miss everything being within walking distance. I'm going to miss volunteering at Linda Creed in Philadelphia. I'm going to miss my humbling experience as an English major.
